Who knew this wizard Tol-keen wrote things other than his ripoff of my reality? He realizes that he is in fact working in the forest of his painting, but the Tree is the true realization of his vision, not the flawed version in his art. What he would have liked at that moment would have been to see himself walk in, and slap him on the back, and say with obvious sincerity: All he said was: One religious reading of Leaf by Niggle could lead to the conclusion that the allegory of “Leaf by Niggle” is life, death, purgatory and paradise.

Leaf by Niggle – a symbolic story about a small painter
Parish had only had a cold, and was getting up. The only bad thing about this story is that it is too short. Although those who really do need to read it will not read it. I imbibed the audiobook edition with Derek Jacobi who seems born to read Tolkien aloud. He was never meant to be anything very much; and he was never very strong. He did not mind mentioning the weeds a neighbourly dutybut he refrained from giving any opinion of the pictures.
In time, Niggle is paroled from the institution, and he is sent to a place “for a little gentle treatment”. The builder did not come.
Leaf by Niggle review – Tolkien’s lord of small things gets a one-man show
The autumn came, very wet and windy. Most of it crumbled; but one beautiful leaf remained intact. Still, a deadline loomed over Niggle. Nobody else was about. Getting torn away from what you’re creating is always pretty painful.
But Leaf by Niggle can also be interpreted as an illustration of Tolkien’s religious philosophy of creation and sub-creation. He knew he tolken have to start some time, but he did not hurry with his preparations. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read.

Tolkien appears to have projected himself in Niggle. Then Niggle himself catches a chill doing errands for Parish in the rain. You may just as readily interpret the story as a lesson on the value of art.
He was quieter inside now, and at resting-time he could really rest. Oddly enough, it was Niggle who became most absorbed in building and gardening, while Parish often wandered about looking at trees, and especially at the Tree. The second time Leaf by Niggle was published by Tolkien it was in Tree and Leaf ina book consisting of two items, the short story ‘Leaf by Niggle’ and an essay ‘On Fairy-Stories’; both have since become readily available in other editions. As he walked away, he discovered an odd thing: Finally, Niggle journeys farther and deeper into the Forest, and beyond into the great mountains that he only faintly glimpsed in his painting.

Central to Niggle’s identity was his work on his magnum opus, a sprawling mural of a tree. He could have painted a far-off view of a sandy desert, but he had not the energy.
But I am not sure, Tompkins. It works wonders in some cases.
