About 10 years ago Kureishi started undergoing analysis himself – Freudian – at a time, he says, when life seemed particularly unendurable.
It is unkind to bring this up, perhaps – cordial relations with Scoffield have since been resumed – but Kureishi says his main response then, and now, was one of bemusement.

To me whether Jay is a good person or not, a likeable relatable character or not is irrelevant because Kureishi succeeded in portraying a human being -flawed as he may be-in his novel and that was enough for me to appreciate him as an author and adore his art. A ako nije, onda nije. His novel Intimacy revolved around the ontimacy of a man leaving his wife and two young sons after feeling physically and emotionally rejected by his wife.
So it is my film but intimady mine.
