I tended to side with Schreiner more on questions of the Law doouglas it’s applic This was probably the most I have ever enjoyed reading a commentary which is good considering it was pages of commentary Romains — Commentaires Kommentar. The problem of Israel 9: On a few fronts though, I really don’t perhaps bc I am not part of the reformed evangelical camp. In terms of intermediate-advanced level commentaries, eomans one is the best place to begin.

I particularly liked his discourse on Romans 7: Moo has a handful of favorite dialogue partners, often playing one off of another; occasionally a footnote is simply the name of the scholar who suggests a certain reading. It’s an invaluable resource for anyone studying Romans.

It seemed to be merely a dry commentary on the details of what the author believed Paul was actually saying. The hope of salvation 5: Get them both when you can. Even when one disagrees they will appreciate where he is coming from and how he has carefully thought through each passage and the book as a whole.
I tended to side with Schreiner more on questions of the Law and it’s applicability to Christians today, but there was very little I disagreed with Moo on.

Moo makes a contribution to the continuing tje regarding Paul’s teaching on such issues as Jewish law and the relationship between the Jews and Gentiles in the people of God. After seeing such high ratings, I purchased this commentary as part of my study in Romans.
I have not totally read through this commentary but when I have looked it up, Moo has been insightful and balanced. Another must-have commentary on Romans if you intend to seriously understand it! roomans

Excellent commentary on Romans. I find that too many of these notes are simply the Greek word. Really, really good work done here.
Originally written for the Wycliffe Exegetical Commentary series, this work has been substantially expanded and adapted for the NICNT series; it now treats the entire book of Romans rather than the first half. Sep 19, Vanjr rated it really liked it Shelves: Be the first to add this to a list.
I also read Tom Schreiner’s commentary on the Greek text with this. This series is not like that-it is more about what does the text mean and sometimes what text is best or preferred. Jun 05, Scot Schieferstein added it. Like the other entries in this series of commentaries, this volume is extremely scholarly in scope and approach, but a wealth of knowledge and expertise that would supplement any serious study of Romans.
I’ve read douglae entire commentary at least twice over the last twenty years. Outstanding commentary on Romans! Paul and First-Century Letter Writing: Doublas helpful and clear. In all, this commentary is a must for anyone who wants to take Romans seriously.

The most satisfying interpretation I have read has been from the Marsten and Forster book: It fhe not a pleasant read, nor was it particularly enlightening. To be fair there was one page in the odd pages that was really good, but this proportion was just too low to take into serious consideration.
