I particularly liked his discourse on Romans 7: Moo has a handful of favorite dialogue partners, often playing one off of another; occasionally a footnote is simply the name of the scholar who suggests a certain reading. It’s an invaluable resource for anyone studying Romans.

It seemed to be merely a dry commentary on the details of what the author believed Paul was actually saying. The hope of salvation 5: Get them both when you can. Even when one disagrees they will appreciate where he is coming from and how he has carefully thought through each passage and the book as a whole.

I have not totally read through this commentary but when I have looked it up, Moo has been insightful and balanced. Another must-have commentary on Romans if you intend to seriously understand it! roomans

Excellent commentary on Romans. I find that too many of these notes are simply the Greek word. Really, really good work done here.

I also read Tom Schreiner’s commentary on the Greek text with this. This series is not like that-it is more about what does the text mean and sometimes what text is best or preferred. Jun 05, Scot Schieferstein added it. Like the other entries in this series of commentaries, this volume is extremely scholarly in scope and approach, but a wealth of knowledge and expertise that would supplement any serious study of Romans.

I’ve read douglae entire commentary at least twice over the last twenty years. Outstanding commentary on Romans! Paul and First-Century Letter Writing: Doublas helpful and clear. In all, this commentary is a must for anyone who wants to take Romans seriously.

The most satisfying interpretation I have read has been from the Marsten and Forster book: It fhe not a pleasant read, nor was it particularly enlightening. To be fair there was one page in the odd pages that was really good, but this proportion was just too low to take into serious consideration.
