I enjoyed reading this set of books, I had one extremely late night when I couldn’t put my kindle down, until the point when I had to let my head rest on my pillow. My rating is 3. Terri Sipes rated it it was amazing Feb 07, Katherine Kurtz is an American fantasy novel writer.

It is grim and violent at times. Unfortunately, when you have people with tremendous power, and people without, there are bound to be difficulties. It was the sixth novel of Kurtz’ Deryni novels to be published, and the third book in her second Deryni trilogy, The Legends of Camber of Culdi.
Once they ruled, no Deryni would be safe. This book contains one of the best love stories I have ever read, and some of the strongest loyalties I have ever seen.

I have been a fan of the Deryni series of books since the late ‘s, when the first one appeared. Dec 12, Mike rated it liked it. For anyone who loves fantasy books with great character development, I highly recommend the Legends of Camber of Culdi series. Camber” and the entirety of “Camber the Heretic” are easily some of my favorite fantasy novels. I decided she was right. Would you like us camebr take another look at this hereetic This is my 3rd or 4th rereading. It took me longer to read this than I would because I wanted to read The Chronicles of the Deryni trilogy so I would be reading the books in the order they were written, but after finishing these I think I should have read the Kelson trilogy before I started this.

Similar to the other books in the trilogy, the story is intriguing enough to keep you going, but there’s not many characters to sympathize with. Sherri heretjc it it was amazing Apr 22, Still, I enjoy the mix of medieval knights and kings and priests, the joining of religion and magic as both faithful expressions of faith, and the search for balance between human and more-than-human Deryni.

In any case, it was a decent story, if grim and full of despair though there were bits of hope – those preparations for the future for one and I’ll move on to the next arc, the King Kelson one as soon as I can find a copy of the first book, The Bishop’s Heir.

Unfortunately, the formatting doesn’t live up to that standard. The events of Camber the Heretic span roughly one year, from January to early January In the medieval kingdom of Gwynedd, strife has long existed between the human population and the Deryni, a powerful race of magic-users. So it has come to my attention that sometimes I have to be slapped in the face to notice the obvious.
I wont go through reviews on all of tye novels — much like Robert Jordan, tue about the first six-eight that are incredible, and then the quality tails off noticeably.
There are currently approximately covers, and a further Illustrations, by Geoff Taylor on this site. I was really disappointed with the Camber books — they are cluttered, hard to read, and often dull and I finally gave up half way through the second one.
