I cmeron the relationship she has with her parents. That aside this retelling is one of the most original of the series; a total heart warmer for all those romantics out there.

I think my boys would even like it. Not too long ago, I experienced a horrible hailstorm, where the hailstones were as big as golf balls, and THEY caused thousands of dollars of damage for people all across the city.

I would still recommend it to people like me, who haven’t read all that many Sleeping Beauty retellings, because this one was still quite an original take on the story.

Told in a first-person voice, the narrative struggles between a chatty, modern tone far too full of parenthetical phrases, and a stronger, more traditional voice that emerges in the second half. Unwilling to cause suffering, she will embark on a quest to end the evil magic.
Not that she was a dislikeable character per say. I liked how the relationship between Aurore and Oswald was portrayed, and even though they are cousins I kept saying in my head ‘second cousin, third cousin I did give a chuckle when the woman responsible for cursing Aurore was revealed to be named Jane.
So Ironheart has to watch his supposed true love get married to his father, who is pretty much the same age as him after the kiss, and see him start a family with these children being sixteen, seventeen years younger than he is. That must have been another way to make this relationship work otherwise, no? So many details left unsaid made me feel lost at the end of the story. But so is Goose Girl yet she still has a grace about her. And for goodness sakes.
First off, I was not expecting Aurore and Oswald to end up together. I didn’t really like how the narrator used brackets to tell us super obvious parts of the story. Cameron Dokey is the author of nearly thirty young adult novels. Ok, so the ending is really where it went wrong for me.
