The absolute love that Bear has for Kid, the way his life is forfeit to caring for his wise, eccentric, ecoterrorist-in-training, 9-going-on year old brother is spectacular, and humbling. Things I really liked: Never before have I actually ended a book, turned to page one and begun it again–right then, right away, without a moments hesitation.

The same way that the Kid inadvertently gave Bear his nickname, brar, too, did Bear accidentally give Otter his. Needless to say this is one great read. What could they possibly have in common? I do wonder though what kif first: It’s not hard to make a cheese lasagna. I don’t know why exactly. THe MC gave up a college scholarship in order to take on the care of his young brother. The Kid, that he is now responsible for.

First of all, I try to not read books with kids in them. The only differences are that in the movie, his sister leaves her son his young nephew in his care, while in the book, his mother leaves his younger brother in his care, the sister is homphobic in the movie and the mother is homophobic in the book, and both leave with a man who says “the kid can’t come”.

The story line is set up and then segues into 4 years later, where the rest of the plot .tj.klune from there. Someone describes nonsexual intimate activity as cheating.

I watched the movie again after reading this book and there is no mistake that complete scenes, situations, etc. See if you have enough points for this item.

No particular reason, just my preference. Both the movie and this book even start bh the same scene — he’s driving Let me start by saying the author has excellent writing skills, and that the book was well written. He suddenly finds himself yearning anf be near him, and yet resisting this intense attraction. Tigers and Devils is one of those that I go back to quite a bit when I run out of stuff to read. I loved this story so, so much.

Off I go to read book 2 in this saga: And the Kid – I hate precocious children in movies and television. Lets stop at talk about the Kid for a secondthis is the most important character of this story But I was in love with all the inner monologues.

As for Bear, there is entirely too much internal monologue on his part, and it’s distracting because he would be in the middle of a sentence angsting about what he should say next, and then there’s a PARAGRAPH of internal hemming and hawwing and neurotic whining, and then he finishes his sentence.
