Ayla’s journey made me very uncomfortable. Being female does NOT mean being stupid and being unable to think for yourself! Ayla is resourceful and filled with a desire to develop and learn favernario be excited by the world, something the Clan find hard to comprehend let alone to emanate.

The ways of survival, ways of development, natural medicine, culture and anthropology. Ayla, Creb, Brun – I remember them all.

The antagonist is perfectly horrible. I would really like to read all the rest of the books in the series.

She tries to find her place in the clan; she is constantly testing the boundaries, but not because she is always defiant. Ayla has managed to get to a Cave where she was chased by but evaded a Cave Lion. Ayla was a great character; she grows so much throughout the book. The series was one that I read out loud to my wife; it also became one of her all-time favorites, and she re-reads it periodically on her own!

Clan of the Cave Bear [Jan 15, ]. Want to Read saving…. I honestly cannot wait to start reading the next book. From start to finish in this installment, Ayla ages only a few years, but during the course of that time, she becomes a woman in the eyes of the Clan.

The ultimate in creative, imaginative story telling. If you read this book, towards the end you will see why I say it like that.

Ayla is taken with the Clan as they call themselves to a new cave far from the place where the Quake happened and she lost her own people. I’ve heard the movie is terrible, but then what would you expect from a movie starring Darryl Hannah?

She was a fine narrator and I became very used to her reading for Ayla and the other characters. She grows to love those who care for her but she makes an enemy of Broud, the future leader of the Clan, which is sure to cause problems for her in the future.

It is definitely appropriate for a teen. That was a great adventure of a read! A truly amazing, captivating and fascinating series that will stay at the very top of my all time favourites list. I adored this book, and still do after re-reads. I joked with friends that I didn’t even want to live in right now. I had no trouble at all visualizing this book in my head as I read and found myself wanting to read it anytime that I couldn’t be. Would it be appropriate for a teen?

I’m glad I stopped judging this book by its cover or my stereotypical assumption of cave people. You did everything you could to her, you even cursed her. This book is not yet featured on Listopia. View all 29 comments.

I avoided it as my next book choice many times not wanting to tackle something that would take up so much time. A natur This novel of awesome beauty and power is a moving saga about people, relationships, and the boundaries of love.

El Clan del Oso Cavernario

I also loved that Ayla was an innovative and strong woman, and I enjoyed learning about botany and medicinal uses for plants as I love these books and have read some in the Earth’s Children series many times because I love the detailed descriptions of their way of life. I truly loved and enjoyed everything about this book. Books by Jean M. It’s equally a story of love and abuse.

Seriously, people, I know the rest of this series focuses on romance, but this book does not, so please don’t shelve it as such!

El Clan del Oso Cavernario by Jean M. Auel (5 star ratings)

Open Preview See a Problem? What was the world like before? I loved how she learned to hunt with a sling, and I liked how she became a good medicine woman, how she would drop everything to try to save someone’s cwvernario. Sure, they are wildly different from me in terms of customs, religion, ways of life, etc. I’ve heard so much about “[Ayla] was a woman, and she had more courage than you View all 3 comments.
