This book is not yet featured on Listopia. Sometimes the main character had tons of arm hair, sometimes none. One of the pin-up alternate cover things was done in a style more like the Prince Valiant strip in the newspaper. That would’ve helped, I think, but I’ve never cared for “super hero art style.
This doesn’t really capture the ‘Game of Thrones’ world for me. My first graphic novel Mi primer acercamiento a George R. The art was excellent but the story and the value was disappointing! I love reading GRRM’s epic novels and have re-read several of them.
They are rich, textured, thrilling and compelling. This was my first experience with graphic novels at least since I used to read comic books over sixty years ago! I read it on my tablet, not my kindle e-reader, and I found the color illustrations to be attractive and very well done. BUT, the story line was thin and brief. The whole thing took about two hours to finish, and it made me think “this would have been a single chapter in one of GRRM’s books! This actually detracted from my overall enjoyment. While I patiently wait for the next hefty volume in the Game of Thrones saga, I will not be looking for more graphic novels of the same universe! Drrante like the GoT graphic novels, but not sure I even want to finish the series after this one. Its a quick read I thought parts of it were rushed and if a bit more had been added it would have made the story a lot more enjoyable.
Its like he took the outline for a good story, then added it to a comic book, deciding oh good enough Not really into comic book style books. If I was it would get a much higher rating. However it is a good introduction to the characters for the actual seeries. Hmmmm, GoT this is not – yes its very short and provides some very limited prequel elements, I know this is is multi-parts so it might get better.
Meh, the only reason for reading it all was my closure obsession. Awfully dreary, even for reading in matrin public transport. Well that was disappointingly slow and boring. Probably won’t be bothering with the second one.
Perhaps it is me but graphic novel was not my thing – sorry I like my own pictures in my head. I’d rather read the story of efrante Hedge Knight in its original format; the lackluster artwork did nothing for me.
